About Brandon L. Mcgee

McGee Law Firm

Brandon L. McGee is the co-owner of the McGee Law Firm. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Brandon attended Texas Christian University, where he earned his B.A. in 1998. He graduated from Emory University School of Law in 2001.

After law school, Brandon headed back to the Lone Star State to practice law. Here, he met his wife, Rita, who is a fee attorney for Capital Title. Brandon and Rita are the proud parents of twin teen boys. Yes, you read that correctly, “twin teen boys.” Raising twin boys keeps the McGee home hopping, and that is why weekends at the McGee home are a frenzied flurry of fun activity. On any given weekend, you will find Brandon and Rita cheering on their boys in their favorite sports endeavors. On those rare weekends when the boy’s schedules permit, you will find Brandon and Rita relaxing and enjoying their time together.

Brandon spent the first few years of his legal career as a trial attorney, litigating civil and divorce cases. While helping his clients navigate their life’s challenges, he found himself doing more and more estate planning. He soon discovered that he enjoyed helping families over “battling” it out in court. So, with that realization and with the sudden passing of his father and a breast cancer diagnosis for Rita, Brandon decided to make estate planning, elder law, and probate the focus of his practice.

Brandon dedicates his law practice to estate planning, elder law, probate, Medicaid pre-planning and crisis planning, in addition to LLC creation. He is the only DFW member of the prestigious American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. He is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the State Bar of Texas.

About Certified Paralegal Terrie O’Donnell

McGee Law Firm

Terrie O’Donnell is the McGee Law Firm’s Certified Paralegal and has proudly called DFW home for over 30 years. Terrie grew up the daughter of a Naval officer and credits the many years of moving from place to place as the reason she is such an extrovert and enjoys meeting new people and embracing new adventures. One of Terrie’s fondest memories is traveling the Pacific Rim while singing and touring with the USO in middle and high school.

Before her love of the law drew her to become a paralegal, she was also a financial advisor, Realtor, and travel agent who specialized in working with clients in the country music scene. How many people can say they learned to make real English tea from June Carter Cash, got to go bowling at Dottie West’s house, or went Christmas caroling with Lee Greenwood?

Terrie and her husband, Andy, have a son in graduate school in New Orleans and enjoy frequent visits to the Big Easy. She is a “dog mom” to Pepper, an energetic and fun-loving Doberman. She is also active in her church and a long-time supporter and volunteer of Grace Bridge, a ministry dedicated to helping those in need.

Terrie is an avid reader, likes to sew, and loves travel and adventure. What is next on this fun-lovin’ lady’s bucket list? She would love to cruise the Greek Isles, zip-line over Fremont Street in Las Vegas, and travel on a donkey through the Grand Canyon.

As a Certified Paralegal, Terrie knows that clients are like family, and having the privilege to assist people with their Estate Planning at the McGee Law Firm is indeed an honor.

About Kim Javins, Marketing & Medicaid Coordinator

McGee Law Firm

Kim began her relationship with the McGee Law Firm as a client. Not only is Kim a client, so is her sister. Kim’s mom was also a client. Upon the incapacity and passing of Kim’s mom, she learned the importance of estate planning. Experiencing estate planning in action piqued Kim’s interest in working with an estate planning firm. Today Kim handles the firm’s marketing and also processes our Medicaid applications. She is an organizational whiz and has experience in both the financial and healthcare fields.

Kim has a Bachelor’s in Marketing from Christian Brother’s University, and in 2008 she supplemented her degree with a graphic design certificate from Collin College.

Animal adoption is dear to Kim’s heart, and she is a big proponent of “Adopt Don’t Shop.” She currently has five furry friends of the feline variety. Kim also loves to bake and is known for her legendary scone and sticky bun skills amongst her friends and neighbors.

Photography, painting, and jigsaw puzzles are a few of the pastimes Kim especially enjoys. She is a fan of the water, too, once spending three weeks on a sailing adventure and now has plans to go deep-sea fishing and on an Alaskan cruise.

But above all, it is helping people that Kim most enjoys. She loves her job and knowing that what she does makes a positive difference in people’s lives.

About Lisa Sharp

McGee Law Firm

Lisa Sharp was born and raised in Mandeville, La, a town just north of New Orleans. Lisa grew up next door to her grandparent’s farm where she enjoyed the best of both worlds, city living and farm life. Growing up in South Louisiana, she had the benefits of a large extended family and friends that were called family; those benefits included crawfish boils on the weekend and spending time on the water. Lisa moved to Baton Rouge, LA for undergrad where she attended Louisiana State University. It was here that she developed a passion for college football and the ability to bleed purple and gold.

Her degree in Political Science landed her a job with the Louisiana House of Representatives in the Docket Office where she worked through the time of Hurricane Katrina. After countless legislative sessions to get the state of Louisiana back on track, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an attorney. Lisa moved to higher ground for law school and ended up in Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma City University as a Merit Scholar. It was here that Lisa discovered Red Dirt Music and legal advocacy.

After law school Lisa wanted to live near family and decided she would move to Dallas where her brother lived. She had spent plenty of time in Dallas and thought it was a wonderful city and a great place to call home. She does, however, adamantly refuse to cheer for any NFL team other than the New Orleans Saints.

For the first six years of her legal career, Lisa worked in the area of family law. As she watched her clients adapt to major life changes, she grew to understand the importance of putting in place a proper estate plan. After the unexpected passing of client, Lisa helped her client’s family put the pieces back together with the estate plan Lisa had prepared. This became her catalyst to move away from family law and focus her attention wholly on helping families with estate and trust law. She understands firsthand the importance of preparing for the unexpected.

Lisa’s goal is to develop lifelong relationships with her clients, not short-term engagements. It is this common vision she holds with the McGee Law Firm to make estate planning, estate settlement and probate an easy, comfortable and enjoyable process to the best extent possible. Lisa believes the most important thing she brings to this whole process–besides all the education, training, experience and knowledge—is being a good listener and explaining things in a simple, straightforward manner without all the legal language and process that can be so confusing.

Lisa has four godchildren that she loves dearly. She is lucky that two live in Dallas and she gets to see firsthand as they grow up and hit life’s little milestones. As for her godchildren that live in Louisiana, she gets back home as often as possible to spend time with them.

Lisa loves to refinish and rehab old furniture. She enjoys figuring out how to modernize her finds, all while keeping the original charm and aesthetics of the piece. Often, Lisa has to frequently use her attorney skills to persuade sellers to accept her offers when the price is not quite right. Lisa is also an animal lover. She has a 7 year old Shih Tzu named Gracie Lou and an 8 year old Airedale named Holly. When not working, she is often found at the dog park or at yoga class. She is an avid reader and hosts a monthly book club.

Education:

Louisiana State University, BA Political Science

Oklahoma City University, Juris Doctor

Southern Methodist University, MA Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution

About Office Manager Cindy Turner

McGee Law Firm

Cindy Turner joined the McGee Law Firm in 2018 as our Office Manager and brought a wealth of knowledge and experience with her.

Cindy was born and primarily raised in Fort Worth, but her father’s job brought the family to East Texas when she was eight years old. In Nacogdoches, Texas, the joys of country living took hold, and Cindy spent countless hours riding dirt bikes through the woods and fishing in some of the best lakes Texas has to offer.

Running our office is a breeze for Cindy, after owning a remodeling and restoration business for many years. She also worked for the City of Lufkin in their Inspections and Code Enforcement Department, where she earned all three levels of State Certification for a Code Enforcement Officer.

Cindy returned to Fort Worth to be closer to family, and as a mom and very active “maw maw,” she loves spending time with her kids and grandchildren, especially in the pool. She also enjoys good “true crime” novel, gardening, and is crazy about Cajun-spiced seafood. She loves to travel and says Ireland is at the top of her list!

Cindy’s warm and genuine personality makes clients feel a part of the McGee Law Firm family from the moment they walk in the door.

About Client Relations Coordinator Krystal DeJager

Krystal was born and raised in Huntington Beach, CA but moved to Texas as fast as she could get here. The biggest delight of being here in Texas is being near the grandchildren! Krystal currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas.

Krystal has spent the last 25 years of her working life serving as a respite provider and in-office administrative positions for various organizations and businesses. Outside of the office, Krystal enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. As a grandma, Krystal loves to dote and spoil them rotten. Krystal especially loves to take her grandbabies to the park.
